Frequently Asked
Since the majority of our customers are not sailors, pirates or sea-farin’ scallywags, we seem to get this question a lot. A ‘first watch’ is a nautical term that refers to the very first shift of the day. And if you ask us, it’s the best shift of the day. That’s because come the crack of dawn, we’re slicing and juicing fresh fruit and vegetables and whipping up our French toast batter from scratch, just for you.
First Watch serves delicious, made-to-order Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
You can buy First Watch gift cards in any of our restaurants, some grocery or retailers as well as right here on our website!
Oh no! Sometimes, our coupons may get redirected to your Junk or Spam folder. You should have received the coupon two weeks before your birthday, so search for it around that date. If you still can’t find it, please fill out the form on our Contact Us page, and a First Watch team member will be in contact with you soon!
The short answer is “no”. Your consideration truly honors us, however, we don’t currently have the infrastructure to cater large events.
We’re so glad you asked. While we don’t take reservations in the traditional sense, we do offer technology at most of our restaurants that will allow you to check out wait times and get on our waitlist before you arrive at First Watch. Simply visit our homepage or download the free First Watch app on your mobile device to get started.
We choose potential First Watch sites using a complex scientific formula that evaluates a dizzying number of very important factors. We’d explain it, but it’s very, very complicated. Have a suggestion for a great place for a new First Watch? Tell us about it, and we’ll consult our experts.

Since 1983, First Watch has been passionately committed to quality, care and continual improvement. That commitment comes to life in the elevated ingredients we use, which we source from suppliers who are aligned with us in our dedication to the advancement of animal welfare.
In 2018, First Watch indicated an intention to work with its suppliers in meeting a goal of sourcing chicken meeting specific G.A.P. welfare criteria by 2024. Since that time, we’ve conducted additional research on the evolving industry measures regarding the welfare of chickens we source for our restaurants. Based on that research as well as our collaboration with leading chicken suppliers and animal welfare experts, our position has evolved as well.
We are proud to serve chicken in every First Watch restaurant that is certified Humanely Raised by the American Humane Association, opens a new page (AHA). The AHA conducts annual audits of our supplier, and the chickens we source are raised with no antibiotics, no steroids, no growth stimulants or hormones, and are never fed animal by-products. We are committed to a humane quality of life for these animals.
Further, all of the broiler chicken we source meets 100% of the criteria for litter and enrichment requirements under the BCC/GAP standards.
Together with our Advisory Council on Food Safety and Animal Welfare and our supply partners, we continually work to advance our animal welfare efforts.
